Rain and Reunions

Dear Family and Friends,
so adventures this week, one of our less active members is Nanay nora who lives out in the middle of no where by the ocean so when we walk to her house we are walking on a dirt path covered in garbage and often very muddy.  I am working on my balancing skills.  Nanay nora, for those of  you who have seen princess and the frog,  looks just like the voodoo witch lady with the snake.  She looks like her, talks like her, lives like her, and it basically HER!!  So funny when I realized this and of course I will send a picture but it wont do it justice.
So basically it rained for 4 days straight and there was flooding in some places.  we didn't go proselyting tuesday because it was so dangerous.  with floods everywhere and the rain still coming down hard trees were falling and powerlines.  a couple other missionaries were electricuted but they didn't die thankfully so we decided to stay inside.  during that time we got some really good language study and I got to make some cool object lessons for teaching which i have used! yes for creativity!
My new saying for the week is "Adventure is out there" from Up and now my companion says it ALL the time literally.  got to love her. I usually say it when we go to landing because we are always walking in mud and water so i just laugh and keep walking.
On thursday, we had our district meeting with the president and we were interviewed and had a demo cooking.  I COOKED!! and the food was so good.  I think cooking here is going to be an experiment, but it is hard because I am white the people at the market ripe you off big time so I don't know what I am going to do if I get a white companion to train.  AY graby!! That day I was really struggling with everything and the president really gave me some strength to go on.  He knows it is hard to come to a new place and learn all this new stuff but that I just need to be patient with myself and that is even harder for me.  On Friday, we got to go to the mission home and have follow up training and honestly it was just a reunion with all the people from our batch.  I got to see my kasama from the MTC and I cried.  I missed her so much and as I listened to her experience with her companion I was extremely grateful for my companion.  Her companion is from america but she is extremely bossy and hard to work with.  ever since then I am always so grateful for what my companion is teaching me and for who she is.  the lord truly knows what you can handle.
I am seeking for the lord in my life and trying to hear his voice but he talks so differently to me than other people.  I am always adjusting my prayers, my study, and how I am learning and I feel like I am not getting anywhere.  He is working though, and I know he is aware of me because I will have small moments when he shows me he is watching over me.
Lastly, We were able to go to mt samat today and that was fun.  Mt. samat is a huge cross on the top of a hill and it represents all those who died during the war in the 50's.  Really neat to see some philippino history and to get out side of the apartment.
Some cool stats: Bacolod had 184 baptisms in july and they have 200+ missionaries.  angeles had 127 baptisms and they have 215 missionaries.  Olongapo was 3rd with 126 baptisms and 150 missionaries.  YEA!! as for food I have had fish, shrimp (still in the shell) and I usually eat everything and usually don't ask what it is.  The fruit here is amazing and I wish I could bring it home so you all could taste it.  They have a coconut juice that they make that is somewhat sweet with coconut chunks in it.  my favorite is mango float which is gram crackers, mango, and condensed milk in layers.  so masarap.
I know that Although life can be hard and we have trials that through christ and the gospel we can find the answer, especially when we read the scriptures.  I am so grateful to be here and I am learning so much about me.  the people here are so sweet and I know that soon I will be able to talk and understand them if I have faith because miracles come after the trial of my faith.  I love you all and hope you are safe.  Keep praying because the lord wants to hear from you and make sure you listen because that is when he touches your heart with the things you need to hear or do in you life. I love you and will talk to you soon.
