Lord guides the way!

Dear Friends and Family,
Wow, what a week.  I had one of those missionary experiences this week and I am so excited to share it with you. So Tuesday we went to one of our hardest areas Balut!  We literally walked a good 3 miles to the end where we reach a dike that leads to the ocean.  we taught 1 person and it was already 6.  I was so frustrated and didn't understand why this was happening and why we didn't have anyone to teach.  our first lesson was crap literally.  the lady didn't even pay attention and she couldn't understand anything we said.  I was not feeling the spirit and just stood at the dike and looked out and asked heavenly father, please help us find someone to teach and to have the gift of discernment to know who is ready for our message.  One of our recent converts was working with us and an older gentleman came up to us and started to talk with her.  turns out she went to elementary school with his son.  (one thing about the Philippines everyone knows everyone because they went to the same school.  you could be 70 years old and you would know everyone of your neighbors.)  so, our member asked him if we could share with him about Jesus Christ and he said yes.  I remember looking at him and feeling completely comfortable around him which is rare here for me to feel comfortable with someone. (oh FYI he has a very large cancerous tumor on the left side of his face literally the size of a football)  we go into his house by the side of the dike and it is simple really.  the floors are dirt and he has cement walls for his house.  his daughter in law is living with them with their 1 month old baby and his wife.  We sit down and I looked at him and immediately knew that he was going to be baptized.  I don't know how and why but the lord told me that.  We had an AMAZING lesson talaga.  he understood and contributed.  I didn't forget the principles we needed to teach and everything worked out so amazing.  He said that he had been looking for something to make him feel this way and that he had been reading other books to try and find the best way to pray to his father in heaven.  when we taught him how to pray i asked him.  Will you say the closing prayer for us.  sa tagalog magdasal po ba para sa ating ngayon?  he said he would and he cried.  He Cried and my heart was so full.  I could feel angels around us and then the best thing happened,  the member who was with us gave him a book of Mormon and he said he would read it and he was so grateful that we had come into his home.  I left there with so much joy in my heart that I could have screamed.  Even now as I write it down again my heart is so full of our fathers love for his children my heart wants to explode.  I know he loves all his children so much and that he wants us all to receive the gospel and know the way to return to him.  even though I only feel it a little I know that the love he has for each of us is so tremendous our hearts cant bare to hold it.
We also had a baptism this week my second one! Yea! we have done some good work in pillar and I am so happy with what our results are.  I know that is won't always be this nice but I will enjoy my time here because I will probably get another twelve weeks here to train someone else and I am fine with that honestly.  The baptism went well I felt the spirit and i knew she was ready to be baptized.  her friend will be next week and that friends mom will be the end of October.  they love the gospel so much and love to read the book of Mormon.  they understand everything and sister Jessica, the friend of our recent convert sister Angalina are helping us teach sister Jessica's mom. I really enjoy the relationships I have gained here and i hope after sister Gonzales leaves I can continue those.
Other than that it is just raining her we have typhoon Odette which should just knick us and we should be fine.  if it is still raining like it is now we will probably not go out proselyting today which is sad but seeing as how it is P-day those are usually the least productive days anyway.  I am learning so much here and with what little time I have left I encourage you all to read 1 Nephi and especially pay attention to chapter 21 verse 4-5, 16,15 which talks about how we feel sometimes and how we think the lord feels about us when in reality it is not true.
I know that this gospel is true and that I need to be here right now in the Philippines and that these people are looking for something to make them happy in life.  life is difficult here sometimes and when they gain a testimony of the gospel people are better able to handle trials.  I know that the lord knows us and that his will is the best.  I know these things to be true and I leave them with you and all my love in the name of Jesus Christ MY Savior and redeemer amen.

Ingat kayo lahat,
Sister Snow
