Dear Family and Friends,
PIG BLOOD, W.O.W. BEING OVERCOME,
what a week.
so to explain the pig blood, I ate
pig blood and .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. . it was actually alright but I did
feel like I got a good pump of iron in one small bite and it was a good thing
it was dark outside and I couldn't see it or else I would not have eaten it.
surprisingly alright though. and the word of wisdom things is
amazing!
so first off, the Llemado family.
we have been working with them for a while and Lino had some serious word
of wisdom problems, but we made him some calendars to keep track and we gave
that to him on Monday. then by Wednesday when we came back he went from 1
pack a day to 6 sticks, then on Friday 3 sticks and then yesterday. . .
Yeah that is right WALA!! none he has completely gotten rid of it all and
the best part is he is the father of the house and he is making all his kids
and his wife do it too. that might sound bad but it is working and his
wife told us last night that she is going to follow in the footsteps of her
husband and go to our church. we will work on helping her gain a
testimony so that when he goes abroad they will still be active but they have
all seen the change in their life and in the life of Lino that I think it will
come really easy. We are working on getting him baptized by the end of
march so it’s a work in progress but he wants it so bad. I think he is in
alma in the book of Mormon and he reads it diligently. they came to
church yesterday, only Lino and his son Martin, and they were going to leave
but we persuaded them to stay and he said in tagalog, wag na, tara! which
means ok we wont' go to our things lets go inside in more or less words.
WHAT!! he is so converted and i love the feeling and getting all excited
that he is all excited. then another one of our investigators, the one
that was addicted to drugs, has also completely gotten off his word of wisdom
within a week too and he is so reading the book of Mormon. I strongly believe
the book of Mormon has magical powers.
On Monday we had an FHE with the Palad
family and it was great to see the family getting closer together and really
seeing them have a great time. we are still working on strengthening that
family and it has got a way to go but I am excited to see what happens.
I really gain a greater respect for
those of you who are or did serve missions in the states because house to house
is ridiculous. we tried that this week and it was more or less effective.
I am really grateful for sister Pati-on because she is open for ideas and
she is always up for doing whatever. even though before my mission I
would have never done anything like that I am learning to really get out of my
comfort zone and just talk to people. seeing some growth talaga. we have
a great time too when it totally doesn't work and we just laugh. that is
another thing I have loved is that we laugh all the time and joke. one
time we totally got rejected and she said, "cge kung ayaw mo ng kaligtasan
bahala ka!" which means if you don't want your salvation than it is up to
you. it is more funny in Tagalog I just realized. oh well.
well the thought I want to share is
from the Liahona: in the article "living a life of peace, joy, and
purpose" by Richard G Scott.
"god uses your faith to mold
you character. character is woven patiently from threads of doctrine,
principle, and obedience. character is the manifestations of what you are
becoming. your character will be your yardstick that god uses to
determine how well you have used your mortal life. strong moral character
results from consistent correct choices in the trials and tests of life.
such choices are made with trust in things that are believed and when
acted upon, be confirmed as true."
I know faith is important in every
aspect of our lives and we need to believe and try to patiently thread our
character together so we can become who god wants us to be. I know that
sometimes that is through other people. I know that this gospel is true
and I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of god.
I love you all and I wish you the
best week.
Love Sister Snow
